The Kano State House of Assembly has constituted a seven-man ad-hoc committee to investigate and unravel the authenticity of a purported video clip released by an online media platform Daily Nigerian, indicating the state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, allegedly receiving a bribe from a contractor.

The committee which was constituted on Monday, followed a motion of urgent public importance, at the plenary, moved by a member representing Warawa constituency, Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari, and seconded by a member, representing Kano Municipal constituency, Baffa Babba Danagundi.

Madari pointed out that the house has the mandate to investigate any matter of public concern, with the aim at ensuring peace and harmony of the state.

Also speaking during the plenary, the majority leader Danagundi advised the executive arm of government to suspend its decision to take legal action against the Daily Nigerian and its publisher, insisting that the house should have given time to investigate the alleged video clips.

The plenary which was presided over by the speaker, Alh. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, then constituted the committee to investigate the matter and submit its reports within one month.

The committee which was headed by the majority leader DanAgundi, has the chief whip Madari, Zubairu Massu, Garba Ya’u  Gwarmai, Abdulaziz Garba Gafasa, and Abubakar Uba Galadima, as members. While Barrister Mujitaba Aminu would serve as secretary of the committee.
