A ferry carrying 335 people is on fire in the Baltic Sea.
A statement by the Lithuania military said Tuesday that the fire started after an explosion occurred in the ferry’s engine room.
The ferry sent out a distress call at 1045 GMT. In response, the Lithuanian military sent a helicopter to the ferry, with two more on standby if needed, according to a spokesman for the Lithuanian air force.
The ferry was heading to the Lithuanian port town of Klaipeda from Kiel, Germany, Reuters reported.
No further details was immediately available.
