Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny has been jailed for 30 days over protest-related charges on Monday.

A local court in Moscow sentenced the opposition leader for holding an unsanctioned rally on Jan. 28, during which Navalny urged Russian citizens to not go to polls.

Navalny, founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation and chairman of Russia’s opposition Progress Party, plans to appeal the decision.
