As the race to 2019 general election continues to gather momentum, a lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh has called on Nigerians to vote for credible candidates to ensure good governance and true representation in the constituencies.
He gave the advise at the Lagos State House of Assembly constituency stakeholders’ meeting which held simultaneously in all the constituencies of the state with the theme; Towards A Peaceful and Credible Election.
Addressing his constituents in Lagos Mainland Constituency 1 and 2, Jimoh said, “you must know the background of the candidates you want to vote for. If such person is a thief or drunkard, don’t vote for him”.
The lawmaker emphasised that there will be primaries to choose the candidates that will participate in the general election and whatever instruction given by the National Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will be strictly adhered to.
In a related development, the federal lawmaker described the ongoing defection as selfish and parochial” As far as I am concerned, I belong to All Progressives Congress (APC) and Asiwaju Political Congress. If Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu leaves All Progressives Congress today, I will also leave”, he said.
The House of Representatives Member therefore appealed to his constituents to remain resolute and committed to the party. Also urged them to collect their Permanent voters card (PVC) to enable them vote for the candidates of their choice.
Meanwhile, he applauded Lagos State House of Assembly for organising stakeholders meeting in all the constituencies of the State, saying it is a good idea to bring the people closer to government.
