As more reactions continue to meet the re-election of Dr Kayode Fayemi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti state, a civic group, Progressives Solidarity Forum (PSF) has described the outcome as “a heartwarming development for the polity”. This was contained in a statement signed by the group’s deputy director of media, information and publicity, Mr Olalekan Adigun, today in Lagos.
The statement reads, in part, “We received the news of the election of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi with unusual joy. We therefore join other progressives in congratulating one of the icons of the enthronment of progressive governance in Nigeria as he seeks to implement several pro-poor policies which many Ekiti people enjoyed in his first stint as governor of the state.”
The statement continued “We, therefore, urge Dr Fayemi t set the ball rolling immediately he is sworn in to offset arrears of workers’ salaries and benefits, payment of monthly stipends to the aged and vulnerable in the state and motivation of farmers to boost agriculture.”
