A member of the House of Representatives, representing Lagos Mainland Federal constituency, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olajide Jimoh has called for increased awareness on voters’ education ahead of 2019 general elections.
He disclosed this while reacting to the outcome of Ekiti governorship election on Lagos State television programme tagged, ‘Lagos Today’. Saying there is need to educate voters on election issues ahead of 2019 general elections.
Reacting to Ekiti election, Jimoh berated National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to have visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo when they should have concentrated on Ekiti governorship election.
“A serious minded political party would not have left an election to Abeokuta to visit one person because of an issue and that’s one of the reasons they lost out. The PDP NWC left Abuja to see somebody who have left the party. This is a failure on the part of party”, he said.
He emphasised that his party, All Progressive Congress (APC) need to tighten up its belt tenaciously to get the desired result in 2019 general election.
Jimoh also said Nigerians can no longer be deceived and not gullible anymore as witnessed in Ekiti governorship election in 2014.
In a related development, the lawmaker who supported Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on South West integration, stressed that this would bring about development and jobs creation for the people.
“Governor Ambode said it in his congratulatory message to the Dr. Kayode Fayemi that there is need to bring all the South west States together under one canopy in order to plan and make it regional.
“This would bring about integration that will transcend to development and it will create more jobs for people. Without development there cannot be peace”, he said.
