Ensure Continuous Services, Minister Tells Government Hospitals

Medical Directors and Chief Medical Directors of  Government owned Hospitals in Nigeria have been given directive to ensure that Consultants and Youth Corps Doctors including Doctors on Internship are on duty to provide health services at the hospitals.

This directive was given by the Minister of Health, Professor  Isaac Adewole, as the National Association Of Resident Doctors begin an indefinite strike in Nigeria.

Professor Adewole said these doctors should be available to work to avoid break in healthcare services to the people.

The Minister assured Nigerians that Government Health Facilities would be open and render services to the people while they continue to dialogue with the Resident Doctors to return to work.

He said that arrangements are also on to make use of Armed forces, Police and Federal Road Safety Health Facilities.

The Minister however expressed optimism that the problem will be resolved soon.
