The National Restoration Group for Political Unity and Peace and Northern Youths Alliance for Peace and Progress have endorsed the aspiration of Alhaji Aliyu Manji for the office of the National Deputy Chairman of the PDP, North.
The group, in a meeting attended by 18 northern youth’s pressure groups of PDP supporters delegates on Tuesday in Abuja, accepted to support Manji as their candidate.
The groups said that they backed Manji in order to ensure that youths in the country were fully represented for the second topmost position of the party with a view of carrying all Nigerians’ youth along for unity, progress and political development in the PDP.
The northern youth’s groups represent North East, North West and North Central states
Speaking after the meeting with all interested groups at the PDP national Headquarters, the National Protem Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar said, the decision was to ensure fairness, equity and political participation among Nigerian Youths
He said that youths observed that it was high time the older party political class gave chance for the new emerging leadership for the party to evolve peacefully and transparently.
“To all of us, that believe in party discipline and progress, Manji remains our best link with our elders in the PDP today, especially being a bridge builder who sacrifices much in terms of resources and time to build our party through all difficulties in order for the PDP to be united and strong in north east.
“With his political integrity, honesty and track records of ensuring party’s commitment cum contribution for the unity and progress of the youths in the North, he is our own choice for the office of National Deputy Chairman of the north.
“He contributes immensely to the upbringing and progress of many of our teeming youths in the party, especially within the north east region by sponsoring and supporting their aspirations,” he said.
He commended the efforts of the PDP National Caretaker Committee, under Sen. Ahmed Makarfi for ensuring fairness and equal participation to all party’s supporters for the upcoming convention.
PDP has fixed Dec. 9 for its elective convention.
