For allegedly attempt to abduct a five year old baby, a 35-year-old driver, Adejumo Adewale has been remanded in Olokuta Prison custody by an Akure Chief Magistrate Court.
The accused person who is facing a one count charge of attempt to abduct was brought before Magistrate A. O. Olotuah.
The accused commited the offence at about 2:30pm at No. 21 Ayedun Street, Church Pupa, Akure on September 1, 2017.
The offence committed is said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 4 of the Ondo State Anti Kidnapping and Anti Abduction Law of 2010.
According to the charge sheet, Adejumo Adewale on the 1st of September, 2017 at about 2:30pm at No. 21 Ayedun Street, Church Pupa, Akure in the Ondo State Magisterial District did attempt to abduct one Mercy Agbaje age five months old with intent to use her for ritual purpose or compel her family to pay certain amount of money as ransom for her release.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector, Eyinla Omoladun, urged the court to remand the accused person in the prison custody pending the outcome of the legal advice from the DPP.
Counsel to the accused person, Barr. Isaac Adubasi did not oppose the application made by the police prosecutor to remand the accused person.
In her ruling, Magistrate A. O. Olotuah ordered that the accused should be remanded in the prison custody, pending the outcome of the legal advice from the DPP.
She thereafter adjourned the case till October 31, 2017.
