The police source said that the lunatic who is always noticed on a spot at the junction of the road that linked to the Ondo Civic Centre along Sabo road, in the town had confessed that she had on several occasions being sexually harassed by the suspect after giving her money.

According to the source, the suspect had on the fateful day lured the lunatic to a corner in the area under the pretense of giving her money. The source added that while the suspect was having carnal knowledge of the lunatic, she screamed and shouted on top of her voice, the development which attracted the attention of the police and other residents of the area to the scene before the suspect was caught and arrested by the police.

Speaking further, the police source said the suspect who initially denied ever knowing the lunatic later pleaded for mercy and confessed that he was under the influence of alcohol while he sexually harassed the lunatic.

When our correspondent visited the Funbi-Fagun police station to see the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the station, Mr. Olu-Ojo Ogunmoyole, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), he was not available for comment as he was said to have gone out of the station for an official engagement.

Meanwhile, a reliable and senior police officer at the station who did not want his name mentioned confirmed the incident and added that investigation has commenced on the matter while the suspect who is presently being interrogated at the station would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded on the matter.
