Google is currently testing a new feature in its Chrome browser that will more easily enable users to mute audio from websites for good.

The new functionality, which is available in Google Chrome Canary, may not seem like anything new but, it does appear to make the decision to mute a particular site a more permanent one.

“The Chrome team is currently experimenting with a setting to mute/unmute a website directly from the Page Info bubble,” Google Chrome’s François Beaufort said in a post on Google+.

“This will give you more control about which website is allowed to throw sound at you automatically.”

To test out the new tool, you must have Google Chrome Canary, a version of the browser that is primarily geared toward developers and tech enthusiasts. The feature can be implemented by using the enable-features=SoundContentSetting switch.
