I’ll Pay Full August 2017 Salary; Akeredolu Tells Ondo Workers

Ondo State Government has said that it would soon off-set the remaining 20 percent of the September 2016 salary arrears being owed its workers, even as it assured that the August  2017 salary will be paid in full.

It further assured that the civil servants in the state who are due for promotion will be promoted.

These were disclosed to journalists immediately after the closed door meeting the labour unions in the state held with the state government representatives at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure  on Monday.

It would be recalled that the state government paid 80 percent of the September 2016 salary arrears owed by the immediate past government from the second tranche of Paris Club loan refund.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi at the meeting said issues were raised and resolved amicably.

The Governor noted that commitment is the watch word of the present government in the state which it always keys into, adding that it is the social responsibility of the government to keep to its words.

His words: “As regards promotion, every civil servant due for promotion will be promoted.

“Promotion is a legitimate right that the government cannot deny its workers.

“The Governor, who is a credible man and a law abiding person will do what is right”

Speaking with journalists, the State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) , Mrs. Bosede Daramola attested to the agreement reached between the labour unions under the auspices of NLC and Trade Union Congress (TUC) as the state government has agreed to pay August salary in full as well as the payment of balance of September 2017 salary arrear soonest.

She said that the state government also assured to pay all outstanding salaries with another tranche of Paris Club refund in October

The State labour leader  appealed to all workers in the state to remain calm with government to fulfil its promises with workers in the state.

On promotion of workers, Daramola explained that government has shown understanding to promote workers due for promotion before the end of this year.
