The South East Governors Forum says it has adopted the Geometric Power Project as a model, for the integration of the region.
Presenting a communique at the end of a closed door meeting yesterday, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer Dave Umahi, pointed out that the Governors have thrown their weight behind the success of the project which is ninety-nine percent completed.
According to the Governor, they have proposed to build five major industrial clusters in each of the states, and commended Shell for the gas project at Asa, for which the forum had signified interest to benefit from, saying that the Economic Team and the Secretariat have been directed to identify and make a list of places in the region where there are gas reserves so that they can liaise with owners of such gas blocs as well as relevant stakeholders, as it will greatly benefit the South East region.
The forum also stressed that it is solidly behind the forthcoming November eighteenth election in Anambra State, and appeal to people and relevant stakeholders and agencies to ensure it’s smooth and peaceful conduct.
On the state of Ndi Igbo living in the Northern part of the country, the Forum said that they have been briefed by Ohaneze Ndigbo and have been in touch with Ndi Igbo living in that region, assuring of constant dialogue with the Federal Government and the Northern Governors’ Forum, commendimg them for the posture they are currently assuming on prevailing issues.
Engineer Umahi added that the Forum will continue to monitor events to ensure Ndi Igbo living in any part of the country is not subjected to harm or live in fear.
Also present during the meeting were the Governor’s of Imo, Abia and Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke.
The President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo worldwide, Chief Nnia Nwodo was also part of the meeting held at the Government House, Enugu.
