Nigeria's Oliseh Leads Foreign Club To First Title In 23 Years

Nigeria’s Sunday Oliseh created history over the weekend, as he led his clubside Fortuna Sittard to their first title in 23 years.

The Oliseh-tutored side beat Ajax Jong 2-1 in a Dutch second division encounter played before a crowd of 7,100.

Two goals from Djibril Dianessy gave Fortuna Sittard their first crack at a silverware since 1995.

Afterwards, Sunday Oliseh expressed delight with his team’s achievement.

“Our victory over Jong Ajax not only makes it a record 7 victories in a row, but secures us the 2nd Period title. Fortuna’s 1st title in 23 years. God is Great!”

They now lead the Eerste Divisie log with 44 points from 20 games.

Dordrecht will host the league leaders on January 19.
