Chairman of the chapter, Mr Ade Omole, stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja while congratulating Fayemi for emerging APC’s candidate for the July 14 governorship poll.
Fayemi won the primary election of the party conducted on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti.
“The main heroes in this election are the co-contestants who in spite of their defeat, have promised to work together for the success of the party in the July 14 governorship election,’’ he said.
Omole expressed optimism that with Fayemi, the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, the APC would win the governorship election.
According to him, Fayemi is a politician with exceptional character and experience spanning from activism to politics.
He recalled that the candidate had governed Ekiti with great prudence, saying that that would help him to win the election again.
“Fayemi’s experience both within and outside politics is enough to get the best for his people. As a key reformer, he has the knowledge to transform the state,“ he said.
Omole added that the success of the primary election was a testimony that the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari were taking issues of internal democracy very serious.
He said that the exercise had further validated APC’s democratic tenets.
He urged the people of Ekiti to see the emergence of Fayemi as the APC gubernatorial candidate as an opportunity to reposition the state.
He said Fayemi´s victory was clearly a rare opportunity beckoning on the people of the state to “reposition it and take it to enviable heights through strategic policies and programmes implementation’’. (NAN)
